Enhanced Shopify Purchase Source Tracking

We understand the importance of knowing where purchases originate, especially when managing both online and point-of-sale (POS) transactions. Previously, there was no way to track the “source” of a purchase within Shopify’s Purchase Syncing webhook payload, making it difficult to distinguish between online and in-store purchases.

We’ve enhanced our system to include the Shopify order “source” field within Talkable’s “Traffic source” field. This means:

• If a Shopify order includes a “source” value (e.g., “pos”), the purchase is recorded as “purchase-syncing-pos” in Talkable.
• If the “source” field is empty, purchases remain labeled as “purchase-syncing”, maintaining backward compatibility and data consistency.

How This Helps You

• Easier POS Purchase Filtering – You can now filter out POS purchases by selecting “purchase-syncing-pos” in the Traffic Sources filter within the Purchases report.
• Deeper Insights – Identify how different Shopify sales channels contribute to your revenue and refine marketing strategies accordingly.
• Flexibility Across All Sources – Since we track all “source” values Shopify provides, you can filter for any specific sources Shopify sends.

How to Use This Feature

1. Go to the Purchases Report in Talkable.
2. Select the “Traffic Sources” filter.
3. Choose “purchase-syncing-pos” to exclude POS transactions from your report.
4. Apply additional filters to analyze specific customer behaviors across Shopify channels.
